  • Our Fruit and Vegetable Garden

    Our raised beds are all ready for Summer 2025! Thank you to Mrs O'Neill who helped us to sow cabbage, lettuce, chives, onions, peas and strawberries.

  • Skip Around Europe

    Thank you so much to Active Schools for the beautiful resources which arrived in our school this week just in time for our Skip Around Europe challenge. We received a set of skipping ropes and this poster of Europe. Every day we decide on our destination - which is a European capital city. One skip equals one kilometre. As a school we try to reach the target distance together. This week we have skipped to London, Lisbon and Vilinus. One pupil brings out the calculator and adds all the totals together. So we are learning about Geography, Maths and PE! The pupils got to take home the old skipping ropes so that they can practise at home! Happy skipping!

  • Morning Exercises!

    At Horseleap N.S, we are lucky to begin each day with outdoor exercise. This is good for our bodies and minds. It helps us to concentrate better in school during the day. Hula hoop activities with music

  • Playground Leaders

    As part of our Active School Flag process, we have Playground Leaders twice a week. The pupils from the Senior Room lead games and activities for the Junior Room. Thank you so much to all the wonderful playground leaders who show such initiative, care, creativity and responsibility towards the younger children.   • Green Schools Energy Workshop

    Thank you to Úna Haplin who visited our school on Wednesday, 4th December to provide a workshop for the children on the theme of energy as part of our green school programme. The children learned about where energy comes from and had the opportunity to make simple circuits.

  • Wonderful Weaving

    Senior Room pupils did some wonderful weaving last week to produce beautiful coasters in time for Mother's Day!

  • Swimming Lessons in Athlone

    The pupils of Horseleap N.S. pictured at the entrance to Athlone Regional Sports Centre The pupils of Horseleap N.S. are currently attending swimming lessons in Athlone Regional Sports Centre each Thursday for six weeks. We are delighted at all the progress being made! All the pupils have made huge improvements, moving from the shallow water to deeper water. Some pupils have had the opportunity to jump into the deep end!

  • Scór na bPáistí

    Well done to all the singers who competed in Scór na bPáistí in the local community centre recently. The ballad group sang 'She Moves Through the Fair' and 'Peigín Leitir Móir'. Molly represented the school in solo singing and she performed 'The Shores of Lough Bran'. Thank you to all who helped the girls prepare for this event.
